SMALL COMMUNITY FOCUSED
FOR OVER 50 YEARS!

OUR HISTORY
St. Paul’s Nursery School (SPNS), a small community preschool located in the heart of historic Dedham, has a community wide reputation for providing a high-quality early education program for almost 50 years.
Although we are no longer affiliated with St. Paul’s Church (located right across the street), our school once was an important part of the Church. In 1874 Dr. George E. Hutton left a bequest for a chapel and on February 10, 1875, the parish voted to build the brick chapel we call SPNS today. It was first used May 10, 1876. Then, in 1957 there was a renovation done in order to make it a two-story building that could be used by the children of the Church school. Due to its strong history, our school is considered a historic building in Dedham, Ma.
On December 9, 1974, the St. Paul’s Nursery School Board of Directors formed, and we began our journey as a nursery school dedicated to serving the children of this great community and their families.
SPNS has transformed over the years and has taken various forms in terms of what it has offered. At one time it was a half day program operating daily from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. Now, we are a full-day preschool, with a strong focus on social and emotional learning, self-help and independence skills, and kindergarten readiness. Operating daily from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., with the option for a half day if desired and flexible schedule options available.
OUR SCHOOL
FOR PARENTS, RUN BY PARENTS
SPNS is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization run by our Executive Director & Head Teacher, Gabrielle Spinale, and overseen by a Board of Directors made up of past and present SPNS parents who care deeply about our mission and the continued success of our school.
Each year when new families enroll, they are given the opportunity to become a member of our parent committee and/or our board of directors. To learn more about how you can get involved at SPNS, please reach out to Gabrielle.

OUR LOCATION
76 Church St, Dedham, MA 02026
Our school sits at the corner of Church Street and Court Street right outside of Dedham Square. Located in a historic building, SPNS is filled with character, charm, and warmth. Our small community school has its own private playground, and given our location, we are able to take walks to the library, fire station, and around our quiet neighborhood.
